We proposed a model based on a system of equations, which reflects the importance of investment, the institutional infrastructure and technology for national growth. The model explains the fabric of the institutional system through the degree of equality and amount of income distribution, as well as human capital.

This paper contributes to the growth literature by applying a new perspective based on the use of variance decomposition procedures: Shapley-Owen-Shorrocks and Oaxaca-Blinder. We illustrate the advantages of these methodologies by analyzing the causes of the economic growth gap between Latin America and East Asia over the period 1980-2014. We find that the divergence in economic growth between the two regions can be explained mainly by differences in institutions and physical capital.
The higher performance of East Asia is also due to higher efficiency in their use.
